Mnohí si vyberajú laminátovú podlahu s predstavou, že takáto "drevená" podlaha bude vyžadovať len minimálnu údržbu a vydrží takmer všetko...

K prednostiam laminátovej podlahy pri porovnávaní s klasickou, drevenou podlahou je nižšia cena, tvarová stálosť a bezproblémová presnosť pri ukladaní. Pozitívom je tiež fakt, že laminát tvorí dobrú kombináciu s podlahovým vykurovaním, pretože výborne odvádza teplo do okolia.
Okrem toho: laminátová podlaha je zdravotne nezávadná a značne odolná voči poškriabaniu (ihličkovými podpätkami, pazúrikmi domácich miláčikov...) a nárazu (od nožičiek nábytku, koliesok stolov a stoličiek...). Slnečné lúče nevytvárajú na lamináte žiadne farebné zmeny a jeho horľavosť je natoľko nízka, že spadnutá cigareta by nemala zanechať žiadne vady na kráse.

Napriek všetkým uvedeným kladom odborníci odporúčajú správať sa k laminátovej podlahe akoby bola drevená, pretože:

- Ak do jej škár zatečie voda, hrozí riziko vydúvania a krútenia.
- Pravidelné vysávanie a vytieranie navlhčeným mopom s použitím slabého roztoku čistiaceho prostriedku na báze tenzidov alebo mydla zachová jej pôvodnú krásu.
- Pravidelné odstraňovanie kamienkov, piesku a iných drobných nečistôt významne posunie čas jej reštaurovania.

Odlišnosti:

- U laminátovej podlahy platí zákaz vstupu pre vosk a leštidlo, ktoré sú určené na pravé drevené podlahy, čím sa ušetria náklady na obnovu či kobercovú kamufláž.
- Pri poškodení laminátu vrypmi sa na rozdiel od drevenej podlahy nedostáva k slovu brúsenie, ale tmelenie.

Tip:
Uloženie laminátovej podlahy vyzerá nenáročne a láka domácich kutilov k sebarealizácii; niekedy však nie je dobré podľahnúť prvému dojmu... V prípade, že sa rozhodnete pre jeden druh laminátu do celého bytu, vyberte si najvyššiu kvalitu a nechajte materiál zabalený v miestnosti kde bude použitý aspoň dva dni, aby sa aklimatizoval. Vyplatí sa tiež investovať do nákupu podkladového materiálu, ktorý zabezpečí zvukovú izoláciu a zvýši užívateľský komfort.

    Thinking back to her decision to relocate to Portugal on her own five years ago, Paula Dreyfuss jokes that many people questioned her state of mind, as she’d never even visited the European country before.

    Dreyfuss loves the local food and usually eats out at least three times a week, something she simply couldn’t have afforded to do when she was based in San Diego, California, where she lived and worked as a teacher previously.

    When she began teaching after working in corporate finance for years, Dreyfuss thought she’d end up with a retirement income that would provide her with a comfortable lifestyle.

    But as the years went by and the cost of living increased, she realized that this was unlikely to be the case.

    Dreyfuss considered moving within the United States, and recalls driving up to Seattle and “stopping at a bunch of places,” but says she couldn’t find anywhere affordable enough to tempt her away.

    She’d always dreamed of traveling around Europe extensively, but Dreyfuss knew that this would likely never happen if she stayed where she was. So what better way to explore the continent than actually moving there?

    “I was really ready to get away from the political situation in the United States,” she admits.
